There is a particular kind of tired that no amount of sleep seems to fix. A racing mind that won’t settle at 11pm, a fog that rolls in around 3pm and never fully lifts, a low hum of dread that colours an otherwise ordinary Tuesday. If that sounds familiar, you are not imagining it, and you are not alone in it. At DMD Fusion, we have watched clients walk in carrying exactly this kind of fatigue, and walk out an hour later looking, quite simply, lighter. The treatment behind that shift is RoXiva — one of the most quietly remarkable additions to our wellness menu.
RoXiva is a light and sound therapy device built around a well-documented principle of neuroscience called the Frequency Following Response. In simple terms, the brain has a natural tendency to synchronise its own electrical rhythm to a steady external rhythm it is exposed to. Give the brain a consistent, gentle pulse of light at a particular frequency, and brainwave activity will begin to follow that pulse.
Lying comfortably with your eyes closed, you experience soft, rhythmic light through the eyelids paired with a layered soundtrack, music interwoven with binaural beats and isochronic tones engineered to the same target frequency as the light. The session does the work. There is no technique to learn, no posture to hold, no meditation skill required. You simply receive it.
How the Frequency Following Response Works
Brainwave activity naturally shifts throughout the day, between alert beta states, relaxed alpha states, deep theta states, and the delta waves of sleep. RoXiva selects a target frequency for your session and your brain, given no resistance to offer, begins to mirror it. The result is a state change that would otherwise take years of consistent meditation practice to access reliably, delivered in a single guided session.
While RoXiva sessions are tailored to each client’s goals, four areas consistently bring people through our doors.
Because RoXiva requires no active concentration, it sidesteps the very obstacle that makes traditional meditation so hard for an ADHD brain. The brain is guided into a settled, focused state passively, offering a sense of mental quiet that can otherwise feel out of reach.
Sessions targeting alpha and theta frequencies have been studied for their calming effect on the nervous system, helping to ease the physical signs of overstimulation, including muscle tension, a racing heart, and the inability to switch off.
Light exposure has long been used to lift mood, particularly when natural daylight is in short supply. RoXiva builds on that same principle, combining it with sound entrainment for a fuller, more immersive lift in outlook.
By improving communication between the brain’s hemispheres and easing an overstimulated nervous system, RoXiva sessions can leave clients with a noticeably clearer head and a lighter sense of mental fatigue.
Light entrains the brain through sight. Binaural beats entrain it through hearing. On their own, each is a meaningful nudge toward a calmer or more focused brain state. Together, they become something more than the sum of their parts.
When two senses are entrained to the same target frequency simultaneously, the brain receives a reinforced, unmistakable signal to follow. This dual-channel approach tends to produce a deeper state within the session itself, and clients consistently describe sessions as profoundly relaxing, almost meditative, in a way that single-sense therapies rarely achieve.
More importantly for anyone managing ADHD, stress, depression or brain fog, this deeper state appears to hold its shape for longer once the session ends. A brain that has been guided into a settled rhythm from two directions at once has, in effect, practised that rhythm more thoroughly, making it easier to return to in the hours and days that follow. It is this combination, not light or sound in isolation, that gives RoXiva its reputation for lasting results rather than a fleeting moment of calm.

We talk through what you would like the session to address, whether that's focus, sleep, stress, or simply a reset, and check for any light sensitivities.

You recline in a comfortable, private space, close your eyes, and the light and sound begin together, low and gentle at first.

Over the course of roughly 30 to 45 minutes, the light and sound shift gradually to guide your brainwaves through to your target state.

Most clients leave feeling unmistakably lighter, clearer-headed and calmer, an effect that often continues to settle in over the following hours.
Everything you need to know before booking your first session:
RoXiva is a light and sound brainwave entrainment device. It uses rhythmic, stroboscopic light paired with audio, including binaural beats, to gently guide brainwave activity toward calmer, more focused, or more restful states through the Frequency Following Response.
Many clients with ADHD find RoXiva supportive precisely because it asks for no active concentration. The brain is guided passively into a settled or focused state, which can feel far more accessible than traditional meditation.
Each entrains the brain through a different sense. Used together, they reinforce the same target frequency from two directions at once, deepening the state achieved and supporting longer-lasting carry-over once the session ends.
RoXiva sessions are non-invasive and drug-free. As with any strobe-based light therapy, it isn’t suitable for those with photosensitive epilepsy or certain light-sensitive conditions, which we check for before your first session.
Some clients feel a difference after a single session. For ongoing concerns like ADHD, chronic stress, brain fog or low mood, we generally recommend a short course of regular sessions to build a result that lasts.
Proper aftercare is essential for achieving scar-free results. Keep the treated area clean and dry for 48 hours. Apply the healing ointment we provide twice daily. Avoid picking or scratching any blistering — this is the most common cause of scarring and must be avoided. Stay out of direct sunlight and use SPF 50+ on the area once healed. Avoid swimming, saunas, and intense exercise for 5–7 days after treatment. We provide a full written aftercare guide with every session.
Yes. With the correct laser platform and settings, effective tattoo removal is achievable across all skin types. Clients with darker skin tones may require additional sessions and lower energy settings to achieve clearance safely, and we always prioritise skin safety above speed. Our practitioners are specifically trained in treating the full range of South African skin tones safely and effectively.
